We can’t expect our data to be private in this age still really important to protect our personal information from hackers. Though unauthorized access to anyone’s data is punishable that won’t stop hackers from misusing them, they are always two steps ahead of our reach, despite their rogue behavior we still can’t help but get amused about the fact that how much more they know about this digital revolution i.e. internet and its depths compared to us.
Data privacy is a fundamental right that is given to all of us by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) in the United States. By now it is clear to all of us that unauthorized use, access, or disclosure of anyone’s personal information is punishable under law. However, are we only prone to hackers?
The advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) of today’s age and we can’t leave Machine learning out of the topic as they both have drastically increased our concerns about data privacy.
Their algorithms are designed to learn from large datasets and make predictions or decisions based on that data. However, if the data used to train these algorithms is biased, the resulting predictions or decisions will also be biased which can be very problematic for some particular communities in which the AI will straight up deny the existence of them because the AI was trained that way.
This is more of an ethical reason than privacy but there is a high possibility if the AI is biased then it might give the data it stored to make itself better to that community in which it is biased and a community consists of a lot of people if anyone with bad intentions gets his hands on your data then that would be a huge issue.
With the increasing use of AI and ML systems, it is essential to ensure that our personal information is protected from unauthorized access or misuse. So It is very important to use or train the AI responsibly because any type of irresponsibility can impact the decision-making ability of the AI. Giving AI human-like intelligence is both an advantage and disadvantage for humanity so the use of AI in an ethical manner is quite needed. Because the consequences of being irresponsible with AI might be too much for any of us to handle.
“The least scary future I can think of is one where we have at least democratized AI…[also] when there’s an evil dictator, that human is going to die. But for an AI, there would be no death. It would live forever. And then you’d have an immortal dictator from which we can never escape.” ~ Elon Musk
